A Great Start for 2007

Online Business Education for Small Business Owners.

As we begin our work in January 2007 I wish you a very Happy New Year and may 2007 be your best business year ever.

If you are anything like me you are reflecting on last year and thinking about the year ahead. It’s a great time to identify the things that worked and that we will keep doing as well as, identify the things we don’t ever want again and things that need improvement.

You need to set your 12 month goals…..

You need to break these goals down to tasks and activities that you will do in the next 90 days. Do this every 90 days.

Relate your business to that of an ongoing tournament in your favorite sport. If you prepare well you will be ready for the next round of the series. Don’t be like a sportsperson who is not fit when he gets onto the starting line….he will finish the race, but he won’t do well….. Your preparation is about planning and then making your plan work. You will get the results from this effort.

If you haven’t already read some of my articles containing key business information let me encourage you to take a look at them. When you do you will see that they are valuable, useful and written in a simple practice way.

Simple – that’s what I like and that’s what I provide for you.

Further information on the one-to-one coaching – this is now available. You can take up the opportunity of one-on-one business coaching where we talk by phone and send messages via email. Again I would like to say…..this is the most exciting development since I began business coaching. The program is designed to suit everyone, because it is customized just for you. Wow, if only I’d had this opportunity when I first began in business.

Operational Risk Management Training – that’s what we are really talking about. Review your business, look at the pluses and minuses and don’t hesitate any longer if you would like to get expert help to become the successful business owner that you want to be. You can have personal coaching, one-on-one or you can make use of the free online business education. Why wouldn’t you get started now…? Discipline - We Go Nowhere Fast Without It

Discipline – we go nowhere fast without it.

In all the studies done on successful people, discipline is one of the key characteristics they all have. Some of my clients get the discipline message quickly and some don’t. Guess who I see get to their goals first? The answer is quite obvious…

Do you have it? Although as a small business owner you have many demands on you all the time, you need to take a look at and assess how disciplined your behaviour and actions are.

Without discipline you are likely to move all over the place and find yourself way off track. Once you are off track it’s often a frustrating and time consuming exercise to find your way back.

When you are working on your goals you know that you have to have lots of discipline to stick to your plans. You have to make this commitment to discipline to yourself in all that you do.

Look at how other successful people function. Copy what they do if it works for you. Make sure you are disciplined in the right things that your small business would benefit from.

Look at the articles on http://www.businesscoachingsite.com/.com to learn how to do the things that you as a small business owner should be disciplined in.

Master Your Business, discipline yourself for success. Get power into you and your small business.

Start Up Business Plan - Planning is the Secret

I recently gained a client, who is a small business owner, because he needed help to feel like coming to work! You may be able to relate to this feeling and lack motivation.

So in my normal fashion I asked him what plans he had to move his business forward in the next 12 months. I wasn’t surprised to hear him say – I don’t have any plans!

Wow! He is worried about why he doesn’t feel like coming to work!

Planning is the key “move forward” tool that every business should have because without it you don’t know where you are going. It doesn’t feel very comfortable in a “going no where” place.

Let’s make sure you are going somewhere, somewhere that you really want to go to. Don’t just end up anywhere that you happen to get to!

Let’s get past this “no plans” phase, and create a fantastic plan. This is the right time for you to read 10 Tips on Master Business Planning that you will find at http://www.businesscoachingsite.com/

Frugality - Everyone Likes to Spend Money

Hi to every small business owner and big business owners too.

Frugality – everyone likes to spend money.

Let’s reflect on an issue that’s really important to success

This word came into my mind from the page I was reading. It occurred to me that we don’t actually see or hear this word very often and I thought that as a small business owner you should think about it too.

What does this word actually mean? The dictionary says: careful, sparing, economical, costing little.

If your business lacks “frugality” it is likely that you aren’t careful with your money, that you are not economical in your spending, that you pay too much for items you purchase, that you purchase too many items……don’t be one of those people that have these bad habits, if you are break the habit now.

Why did I think about this, especially in the context of what it can mean for a small business owner? I though about it because I realised that small business owners need to understand the meaning of the word.

The dictionary doesn’t say mean – a common perception of the word – that’s what stuck me. We have heard people say that a person is very frugal and often this is a nice way of saying that they are perhaps a bit mean with the money.

I love this word when I look at what it really means….

The words in the definition above explain how every small business owner should view the use of their money. Perhaps a little bit of deep thinking about this may help you to see ways where you could become more frugal in your business. In my consultancy I often hear small business owners say things like: what’s another expense, it just something else I have to pay for. Do you? This is my question to you and it should be to yourself too.

Read the articles on www.businesscoachingsite.com to learn how to do the things that you as a small business owner should do to get your business flying.

Financial Independence - Every Small Business Owner's Goal!

Hi to every small business owner and big business owners too.

Financial Independence – every small business owner’s goal!

Cash is always a critical concern so I want to remind you - if you want to become financially independent you have to have the mind set that will get you there.

I was listening to one of my business CD’s this morning I was reminded about a success point that is often neglected by small business owners. Let me share it with you so that you can work on getting things happening the right way for you.

If you are not already financially independent and your business is the vehicle for doing this you have to know how.

This is the point: In small business you must earn more than you spend.

I also point out that this of course just isn’t for small business owners it’s at work, its necessary in your personal life as well.

Staying focused in Your Small Business

Staying Focused in your small business.

Wow! We all need reminders....even about important issues

After a client meeting this week I am reminded again just how easy it is for small business owners to loose FOCUS on what you are trying to achieve.

I have been working with a client on some significant changes he is making in his business. These changes are both operationally and emotionally challenging. He was experiencing a loss of focus which left him wondering what he was doing.

Now when the CEO of a small business appears to be “wondering what he is doing” other team members will no doubt catch this same impression. This makes the process of change harder than it needs to be.

Let’s get past this “wondering” phase... we do this by being totally FOCUSSED. It could be a good time to read 5 Top Ways to keep Your Right Focus at http://www.businesscoachingsite.com/

Being a focused small business owner is the quality that leads to success.

Actively seek opportunities to Learn

All business owners have needs in common.
That need is learn everything they can about their business.

What will make the difference for you is that you actually actively seek the opportunity to learn.

Hi, to every small business owner and big business owners too.

As a small business owner you have spent much time learning. I want to remind you about how important it is to keep learning. The information I am giving to you is valuable because it’s what works. Why can I say that? Because, for years and many times over I’ve seen and experienced how small business owners need to work.

You probably started your business because you had a great skill, had a great idea, didn’t want to work for a boss, wanted to make more money or for any of the other reasons people begin in small business. Let’s face it, all businesses are small when they begin.

In becoming a small business owner you probably had some high expectations about your success. Right? Along the pathway of making this business work you probably also found out that there’s much more that you have to learn than you ever thought was possibly required. Right?

This is all pretty normal and it’s what I have seen in my consultancy over the years. What will make the difference for you is that you actually actively seek the opportunity to learn. You need to learn the things that will make you the successful business owner that you want to be. You deserve to be successful if you put in the learning and the work and then, of course you will be as successful as you want to be.

On my website http://www.blogger.com/www.businesscoachingsite.com you can find heaps of really valuable information that deals with the knowledge that every small business owner needs. Make sure you absorb everything you can, revisit it as many times as you need to.

If you are wondering where to begin - read the articles that are most valuable to you right now, FIRST.
